Areas of focus

Social responsibility across our business

The seven core subjects of ISO 26000 provide a framework for considering relevant issues and setting priorities for improvement within our business and relationships.

Organizational governance

We seek to integrate social responsibility into decision-making, defined responsibilities and management review, supported by ethical conduct and transparency.

Human rights

Our commitments emphasize respect for dignity, equal opportunity, inclusion and the fair treatment of people affected by our activities.

Labour practices

We place emphasis on safe working conditions, employee wellbeing, skills development and constructive communication in the workplace.

The environment

Our approach considers resource efficiency, pollution prevention and the environmental effects of our operations, with further detail on our Sustainability page.

Fair operating practices

We promote ethical business relationships, responsible sourcing and respect for the interests of suppliers and other business partners.

Consumer issues

Food safety, product quality, clear information and responsible handling of customer feedback are central to our customer commitments.

Community involvement and development

We recognize the importance of local employment, developing skills and engaging with communities in ways relevant to our activities.

Evaluation and improvement

How we review our practices

Internal review helps us understand where our practices are effective and where further work is needed. We use ISO 26000 as guidance when considering relevant social responsibility issues.

Internal self-assessment

Consider our practices and the social, environmental and governance issues relevant to our operations and stakeholders.

Documented management practices

Use policies, procedures and records to support review, accountability and follow-up.

Periodic management review

Discuss progress and areas requiring attention, and identify priorities for continuous improvement.

Stakeholder engagement informs this approach by helping us understand the interests and concerns of employees, customers, suppliers and the communities connected with our business.

Quality, people & responsible growth

Our standards and the Sustainable Development Goals

Our food-safety systems, laboratory work, quality management and workplace commitments connect with the SDGs in different ways. Explore the goals below, including the wider frameworks behind our certifications and recognitions.

Scope matters: the overview brings together proposed company-relevant themes and wider framework references. Goals 1 and 13 reflect broader standard or food-loss connections. Goals 6, 16 and 17 relate to Foundation FSSC’s wider work, including social-responsibility activities, and are not claimed here as AVO certification outcomes.
